Added

Mail Attachments. Every file you received in Apple Mail, in one place, Attachments in the sidebar: who sent it, the subject, the date, the account and the mailbox. Search finds a word in the name, the sender or the subject, and the menu next to the sort narrows the list to one account, one mailbox or one person. The same file received several times shows once, with how many times it came. Quick Look it, copy it or drag it to any folder, and Show Email in Mail opens the email it came in. DockDuck only reads what Mail saved on this Mac: it never changes Mail, and attachments always leave as a copy. Turn it on in Settings, Mail Attachments; it needs Full Disk Access.

Camera cards. Put in a memory card from a camera and its page offers to copy it to the drive where you keep your photos and videos, and to one or two backup drives at the same time. Every copy is read back and compared with the card before DockDuck says the card is safe to format, and a file that does not match is copied again or named. Offloading the same card again only copies what is new. Next to every offload DockDuck leaves a checksum file (MHL) that video editors can check, and the card itself is never changed.

Panes as cards. With two or more panes, each one is its own card, rounded where it meets the next, with a small handle in the gap between them: drag it to resize, click it to put the panes side by side or one above the other. Where four panes meet, a cross moves them all at once.

A new Shelf. It floats over the bottom of the window as a slim capsule with real previews of what it holds, and opens into a card where you can pick some files or work with all of them: Move Here, Copy Here or Make Alias. It can also sit on the right edge of the window as a small rail; choose where from its menu.

Drag the sidebar's edge to hide it. As in Finder, dragging the edge well past its narrowest width hides the sidebar; drag back before letting go and it stays. Show it again with Option-Command-S and it has its width.

A new look for the column view. It gets the same header as the other views: the open folder's name, how many items it has, the kinds and Sort. Sort applies to every column; a kind filters only the column you are in (the last one when you are in none). Each column is titled with its folder, rows are rounded and lightly striped, and a selected file shows in the same preview panel as the other views.

Names that fit in the list. Open a folder in place and its long names no longer get cut: the other columns narrow to what they show to make room, and the list never scrolls sideways. A column you sized yourself is left alone. As in Finder, double-click a column's edge to fit it to what it shows, or Option-double-click to fit them all.

The Drawer. A small window of files that slides in over any app with Control-Option-Command-D. View, Show Drawer Button also puts the DockDuck icon at the edge of the screen, a click away. It shows the folder you work in with its path on top; the arrow at the end of the path unfolds a tree of your folders and disks to pick another one, or your recent files. A magnifier searches the whole Mac. Drag a file out of it into the email, chat or page you are writing; drop an image from a web page or an attachment from Mail on it to save it in that folder. Pin it to keep it over your other apps while you work, also while you drag files out of it one after another; unpinned, it folds back into its button at the edge, which follows you from one display to another. Rest the pointer on it to see its shortcut and how to remove it. Drag that button up or down to make it bigger or smaller, as you resize the Dock, and drag the Drawer's inner edge to make it wider, or its bottom edge to set how tall it gets.

Gradient themes. Ciruela, Aurora, Brasa, Océano and Crepúsculo, each in a dark and a light version, paint your files over a soft gradient that starts in the top right corner. Find them in Settings, Appearance, under Gradient.

Changed

The yellow duck is DockDuck's icon. The Dock now shows the duck on its own, for everyone, and the orange Classic icon is no longer in the choices. If you had Classic, you get the yellow duck.

Clearer names across the app. Menus, the sidebar and Settings now say what things do in everyday words: Saved Searches, Drives & Devices, All Favorites, Show in Finder, Get Info, Send as Link, Show Sidebar and Hide Sidebar, As Icons, Next Pane and Previous Pane. Settings sections are named for what they hold: Toolbar, Folder Rules, Cloud Drives and Links. The lifetime plan is now called Pro Lifetime. Every language follows.

Return answers the questions at the bottom of the window. Empty Trash and the other questions take Return for the colored button, as any Mac dialog does, and Esc still cancels. While you type a name or a search, Return stays there.

A workspace can have no color. Choose No color, first in the colors, and the window keeps its plain look while the workspace is open; the workspace chip and menu show it in gray. Workspaces you already saved keep their color.

Switch workspaces in the same window. In a workspace's window, choosing another workspace now changes the window to it, and the one you leave is saved as closing its window would. From a window without a workspace it still opens in a window of its own, so nothing you had open is lost. To keep both on screen, point at a workspace in the menu and click the window button beside it.

Fixed

Without Full Disk Access, macOS could ask to let DockDuck read "data from other apps" as soon as it opened. DockDuck no longer reads another app's files to find out whether it has Full Disk Access, or to fill Recents.

The Full Disk Access notice stops asking after you close it twice. It used to come back at every launch.

In the column view, the folders on the open path are light gray in Light mode. With DockDuck set to Light on a Mac in Dark mode they could turn almost black.

Servers no longer disappear when you open a workspace. A server you add now shows in every workspace. When you add one while a workspace is open, "Only in this workspace" keeps it there. To take a server off one workspace without deleting it, right click it and choose Hide from This Workspace. Opening a workspace in one window no longer changes the workspace open in another, and a window without a workspace always shows every server.

The sidebar's scroll bar stays thin. After hiding and showing the sidebar it could come back wide, with a track, on a Mac with a mouse.

In full screen the top of the window was empty: no tabs, path bar or buttons. They now stay where they always are.

Holding an arrow key at the top of a list no longer flickers. The selected row could show for a moment under the column header before landing below it.

Icons keep their spacing while the preview panel is resized. The space between them used to grow and shrink with the window, so the last icon jumped around.

Open folders in tabs instead of new windows now works. The setting in General, which used to say "New windows open in", did nothing. Turned on, Enclosing Folder in New Window opens a tab in the same window. Command N still opens a new window, and nothing changes for anyone who never turned it on.

Settings no longer has switches that did nothing. Share Technical Data is gone, since DockDuck collects no usage data at all, and so is the second updates switch in Account. Update Automatically in About is the one that works.

Dragging a file from DockDuck to the Desktop or a Finder window moves it, as dragging from Finder does. It used to leave an alias behind. Another disk still gets a copy, Option still copies, and Option-Command makes an alias. Dropped on the Trash in the Dock, the file goes to the Trash, and Undo brings it back.

Downloads, Recents, search and Tags remember their own list columns. Right-click the column header to show or hide one there; the check marks now match what the list shows, and other folders keep theirs. Downloads still starts with Date Added.

Cloud drives show their own icon. The folder of Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box or Sync shows the app's icon in the list and the grid, as in Finder, and its symbol in the path bar, instead of a plain folder.

Switching panes moves the keyboard with the blue frame. After Switch Pane from the menu, the arrows kept moving the pane you left. The frame now always marks the pane you are typing in, however you got there. A shortcut you give Switch Pane in Settings with Control or Option now works, and with Shift it goes back through the panes.

Replace keeps the file it replaces in the Trash. When a file with the same name was already there and you chose Replace, the old one was deleted for good, even if the copy then failed. Now it goes to the Trash, where you can put it back.

Dropping several files on the Shelf at once could close the app.

Your own files are always copied when you drop them, never moved, even inside a folder whose name happened to look like one DockDuck uses for files dropped from other apps.

A cloud folder added to Favorites stays there after a restart. A folder such as Sync's in Library, CloudStorage showed up in Favorites but was gone the next time DockDuck opened.

No more gear that does nothing in cloud folders. In a Sync or Google Drive folder its menu had nothing in it; the gear now only shows when it has something to offer.

The action pill in the list keeps clear of the pointer. It used to open right against the click, over the names you might click next, and on the first click into a window in the background it could land under the pointer itself.

Translation fixes. The Shelf has one name everywhere in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Vietnamese, Make Alias uses the Finder's own words in German and Chinese, and a few wrong words in Korean and French are corrected.

Added

Tab groups. Put a folder in a group from its tab's menu, and give the group a name and a color. Its tabs then sit together under the group, and any tab that opens that folder joins it. Click the group to fold its tabs out of the way, or close or ungroup it from its menu. You can turn groups off in Settings, General.

Folders open in place in the list. Click the triangle next to a folder, or press the right arrow, to see what is inside without leaving the folder you are in. Press the right arrow again to go into it, and the left arrow to fold it or come back out. Option-click opens or closes every folder inside at once. While DockDuck is open, coming back to a folder shows it the way you left it, and when you scroll deep inside, a small bar at the top names the folders you are in and takes you back to them.

All Tags. The end of Tags in the sidebar lists every tagged file in one place, with a Tags column to sort them by. Tags you made yourself have a page of their own too, not only the colors.

Updates install on their own. New versions download in the background and install when you quit DockDuck. You can turn this off in Settings, About, where Check Now looks for one right away.

Network drives come back after sleep. A drive from a NAS or another computer that was open in a window is connected again when the Mac wakes up, and the window shows it as it is now.

Photos from an iPhone can go into folders. The Import menu next to Import New sorts them by day, month, trip, place or kind, and the import shows where they go and how many photos land in each folder before anything is copied. A Live Photo stays with its video, photos you already sorted are not copied again, and each iPhone or iPad keeps its own choice, which Settings, General shows. By Place asks once before it looks up the cities with Apple Maps.

A reload button in the address bar. It reads the folder again, the same as Command R, and is always there, next to the arrow for recent paths.

Choose what the sidebar shows. The gear at the bottom of the sidebar lets you switch off whole sections, like Tags, or single places, like Network, drag them into the order you want, and take folders out of Favorites. Reset brings everything back, and each workspace keeps its own.

Write to support from the app. Contact support and Report a bug, in Settings, About, open a form right there: a title, what happened, and a screenshot or a log. On a trial without an account, Register comes first, and the trial keeps its days. The DockDuck and macOS versions go with it, so you never have to look them up. Report a bug used to open a page that was not there. Files are checked before they go: up to 10, 10 MB each, screenshots, text and logs, or a zip.

Folder rules work with DockDuck closed. When a file lands in a folder with rules, they tidy it right away even if DockDuck isn't open, and a notification tells you what they did. Rules that ask first wait for you, and anything they did can be undone from the folder's history or with Command-Z when you open it. You can turn this off in Settings, Behavior.

A folder tree on each side of the server view. Your Mac and the server each show their folders as a tree beside the list, so you can jump to any folder in one click. Your Mac's side also lists your external drives. Turn it on with the button next to the sort menu, and drag the line beside it to make it wider.

Changed

Tabs make room while you drag one. The other tabs slide out of the way as you move a tab along the strip.

RAW photos show their thumbnails on network drives, whatever their size. DockDuck reads only the small preview each one carries, not the whole file.

Changes made on a network drive by someone else show up on their own, also on drives that do not announce them, and Reload checks again a little later in case the drive was still showing the old list.

CloudMounter drives show by their own name, without "CloudMounter" in front, when that option is on in CloudMounter.

A server opens where you left it. Both sides come back to the folders you were in last time, on the server and on your Mac, for each server.

Fixed

Esc skips when a name is taken. When a copy or move finds an item with the same name, pressing Esc now skips it, as in Finder.

An iPhone no longer looks empty when its connection is reopened, for example after another app used it. DockDuck opens it again and lists the photos.

Signing in no longer takes days off a trial. A Mac on its trial kept only the days of the account's trial when someone signed in with an account whose trial had already ended. The Mac now keeps every day it had left.

Esc closes the questions at the bottom of the window. Before deleting or importing, pressing Esc now cancels, as in any Mac dialog.

An external drive that is not APFS showed as full on Home, with Zero KB free, while the sidebar showed its real free space.

Without Full Disk Access, macOS asked for Apple Music and the media library on its own while DockDuck built its search.

Two panes on the same folder came back in the same view after a restart. Each one now keeps its own.

The size of some apps blinked to a dash in the list while a search ran in another pane.

Sidebar icons shook by a pixel while you dragged the sidebar's edge.

The menu bar showed two Window menus.

The column view could not be used from the keyboard after opening a folder, and a new window ignored the arrow keys until you clicked in it.

A slow second click on a folder's icon started renaming it. Now only a slow click on the name does, as in Finder.

Files moved to the Trash from Free Up Space could come back on the page when a scan finished, and files deleted elsewhere stayed listed.

A network drive that stopped answering could freeze DockDuck, even at launch. DockDuck no longer asks a network drive anything to draw the sidebar, the drives on the Home page or the Network page.

Opening a network folder right after connecting could take seconds. It now opens as fast as any other time.

Folders with their own icon showed a plain folder on network drives.

Command-W on the last tab did nothing. It now closes the window, as in Safari, and it closes Settings too.

Renaming a folder with a dot in its name asked about removing an extension. Folders have none, so it no longer asks. Files and apps still do.

Holding an arrow key through a large folder could stutter. Moving the selection is now several times lighter in every view. In Columns, the preview waits until you let go of the key.

A few labels read wrong in other languages. The download count of a shared link, the shared folder on a server, rule sentences and archive errors now say the right thing in all 19 languages.

Dragging or pasting a file into a folder you had just made on an FTP or SFTP server failed with "URL type ftp isn't supported". It now uploads, as in any other folder on the server.

A new search, built for speed. DockDuck now keeps its own list of your files' names, so results appear while you type and no longer wait for Spotlight. The best match comes first, it learns from what you open, and several words can match along the path: "clients invoice" finds the invoice inside the Clients folder. External drives are included while they are connected, and apps are found by name.

A menu that helps while you type. Under the search field, choose between names and what is inside files, pick this folder or the whole Mac, add a kind, a date, a size or a tag in one click, and run a recent or a saved search again. The arrow keys move through it while you keep typing, and Option+Return searches inside files for what you typed.

Filters you can see. Every active filter shows as a chip inside the search field, and Backspace removes the last one. Filters work on their own, too: pick Images and Past 7 days without typing a word.

A redesigned Filters panel. Choose several kinds at once, a format, a size with a slider, a date and a tag. Save Search keeps the search in the sidebar and runs it again each time you open it.

Results that say where they are. In the icon view each result shows its folder under the name, and the bar at the bottom shows the whole path of what you select. Click any part of it to go there. When nothing matches in the folder, Search This Mac runs the same search everywhere.

Search on servers. Searching while you are on an FTP or SFTP server now looks through its folders by name.

A Search page in Settings. See how many items are indexed, include hidden and system folders if you want them, and rebuild the index.

Each folder remembers its view. Leave Downloads as a list and Pictures as icons, and each one opens that way the next time, with its sorting and column widths. A folder you rename or move inside DockDuck keeps its view. You can turn this off in Settings, General.

A new Network page. Your computers are on the left and the shared folders of the one you pick are on the right, as tiles or as a list. Each share shows once, with its free space, and you can open it, eject it, edit it or forget it from there. Eject All disconnects a whole computer at once, and Connect As signs in with another name.

Themes. Settings, Appearance has 29 color themes for the whole window, light and dark, and folders take the color of the theme. The built-in terminal follows the theme as well.

Copies you can trust. DockDuck can read every copy back and compare it with the original. By default it does so for external drives and network shares; Settings lets you choose always or never.

Merge folders. When you copy or move a folder onto one with the same name, you can now merge them instead of replacing one with the other.

Bring your servers with you. Import Servers reads the sites saved in FileZilla and the hosts in your SSH config, so you do not type them again.

More ways to sign in to a server. Use the keys loaded in your SSH agent, or a key file with a passphrase. RSA and ECDSA keys work, also on servers that refuse the older RSA signatures. Secure FTP works on servers that ask for it on the regular port, too.

Edit a file that lives on a server. Open it, change it, save, and DockDuck sends it back. If the file changed on the server in the meantime, DockDuck tells you, and if you quit while it is still going up, DockDuck finishes first.

Change permissions on a server. Get Info on a file or folder of a server lets you change who can read and write it.

Server transfers pick up where they stopped. A transfer that fails can be retried from the transfer panel and continues from the bytes already sent. Cancel stops the file in flight and leaves no half file behind.

A speed limit for server transfers, in Settings, Servers, so the rest of your connection stays free. The server sheet also has a Test button that signs in and tells you whether the connection works.

More control over the icon view. Settings, Appearance has a slider for the icon size, and lets you set the spacing, the text size, where the name goes and whether the item count shows under folders.

A compact folder header. One line for the folder name, the filters and the sorting, which leaves more room for your files. It is in Settings, Appearance.

Indonesian, Polish, Norwegian and Finnish. DockDuck now speaks 19 languages.

Halloween icons. Through November 2 the Dock icon dresses up, with three to choose from. You can go back to the usual duck in Settings, Appearance.

Changed

The shortcut that opens a new window from any app is now Control+Option+Command+E. It used to be Option+E, which on many keyboards types a letter or an accent, so DockDuck took that key away from every other app. Both shortcuts that work from any app are now listed in Settings, Keyboard, under From Any App, where you can change or remove them.

Claude can do much more in DockDuck. It can now read folders, rename and duplicate files, move them to the Trash, compress and extract, create folders and files, work with your saved servers and cloud folders, make a share link, set up and run folder rules, and create workspaces. A notice tells you what Claude did, with an Undo button. On your Mac nothing is deleted for good; to delete on a server, DockDuck asks you first.

Turning Claude on is one step. Switch it on in Settings, Dev Tools and DockDuck adds itself to Claude and offers to restart it. DockDuck asks you before it lets a program in, and names the program that is asking.

Moving between your Mac and a server really moves. Cut and paste, and Move to Other Pane, used to leave the originals behind. Now they are removed once the copy has arrived.

Deleting on a server asks first, because a server has no Trash. Removing a saved server asks too, and says that its saved password goes with it.

Downloading onto a name that already exists asks what to do: keep both, replace or skip. A new folder or file on a server no longer overwrites one with the same name.

Servers stay connected. DockDuck keeps the connection alive and opens it again on its own if the server dropped it.

The server sheet understands a pasted address. Paste
ftp://user:password@host:port/path
and each part goes to its field. Typing
sftp://
switches the protocol.

Settings, Servers says when you last connected to each server, and its switches for storing passwords and reconnecting at launch now do what they say.

Folders open faster. Ordinary folders on your Mac list sooner, a folder with thousands of files on a NAS now lists in about a second, and Desktop and Documents kept in iCloud no longer take a moment to appear.

A long path keeps whole names. The path bar now drops folders from the left and shows "…" instead of cutting names in half.

Type a place by its name in the path bar. "Network", "Recents" or "Tags/Red" take you there.

A workspace opens in a window of its own, and closing that window saves it. A workspace also remembers whether the preview panel was showing.

Notices at the top of the window have a new look, and the first launch explains why DockDuck asks for access to your folders.

The top of the window is slimmer with a single tab. The tab and the path no longer repeat each other.

The preview panel starts hidden on a new install, with a Preview button in the toolbar to show it. If you already use DockDuck, nothing changes.

Sort by Best Match. Search results can be sorted by how well they match, from the sort menu.

Esc clears the whole search: the text, the filters and the results.

The column view shows which column is active, and no longer flashes an empty band when you open a folder.

Settings has a cleaner look, with the same rounded buttons and pickers as the rest of the app.

Server errors say what went wrong in plain words, instead of a code.

Counts read correctly in every language. "1 item" and "5 items" now follow each language's own rules, and screens with long words no longer cut their labels.

VoiceOver reads the toolbar and the tabs by name.

Fixed

DockDuck felt slow on some Macs running macOS 15. The path bar was doing far too much work on every change.

The arrow keys did nothing while Quick Look was open. They now move to the next file and the preview follows, as in Finder.

Secure FTP servers that require one session for everything could not list or transfer. They now work without any setting.

A file edited on a server could lose its upload if you quit DockDuck, or saved it again, while it was still going up.

File names with accents on older FTP servers showed as garbled text, and a link to a folder did not open as a folder.

The server side could open as icons or columns instead of a list when you connected from a folder with a view of its own.

Editing a saved server showed its password in the field.

Settings, Servers called SFTP servers "Mounted" and never said whether an FTP server was connected.

A server address in IPv6 lost its brackets, and one typed without them was not accepted.

Switching between workspaces with one pane and with two did not change the layout or bring back their folders.

A workspace with a server pane did not reconnect on its own.

With two panes, a click in the sidebar changed the left pane even when the right one was selected.

The first row hid behind the list header in a folder last seen as icons.

A folder sometimes did not refresh when a subfolder was added while it was on screen, and a long copy now shows its files as they arrive.

The preview panel did not come back after turning it off and on in Settings.

The Shared page stayed empty after signing in until you left it and came back.

The Full Disk Access notice was cut off behind the sidebar.

The eject button was hard to see on the selected row of the sidebar.

Added

Your clouds, unified. iCloud Drive gets a first-class sidebar section with the same unified view Finder shows, and Dropbox, Google Drive, and Box appear automatically when their app is installed — each with its own branded icon. Download-status badges show what's local at a glance: click the cloud to pull a file down (with a progress ring) or use "Remove Download" to free the space, right from the context menu.

Quick Actions. A native, no-dependencies submenu on images and PDFs: convert an image to PNG, JPEG, HEIC, or TIFF; resize it to a preset width; or combine several selected PDFs into one. Each runs in the background and drops the result next to the original, undoable with ⌘Z.

Organize into Folders. Sort a messy folder — or a selection — into subfolders by kind, file type, date, or first letter, with a live preview of the plan before you commit. One ⌘Z puts everything back.

Your tabs come back. With "Restore session" on (Settings → General), the tabs you had open reopen at their folders on the next launch, with the active one selected.

Address-bar commands. Type
claude
,
terminal
,
git
,
finder
,
code
, or
cursor
in the address bar to act on the current folder — the text turns into a command chip and Enter runs it. Choose which terminal opens in Settings → General.

Changed

Faster, more reliable launch. The window now paints immediately instead of waiting on a Keychain read, so the app never hangs on a blank window at startup.

Address-bar commands. Type a keyword in the address bar —
claude
,
terminal
,
git
,
finder
,
code
, or
cursor
— and it turns into a Command chip; press Enter to run it in the folder you're viewing. Open a terminal already sitting in the right directory, reveal the folder in Finder, or jump straight into your editor, without leaving the keyboard.

Pick your terminal. Address-bar commands open Terminal by default; choose iTerm2, Warp, or Ghostty instead in Settings → General. Only apps you actually have installed are offered.

Tips that teach the address bar. A small hint bubble occasionally appears under the address bar introducing these commands. Close one with ✕, turn them off forever with "Don't show again" (or in Settings → General), and they never interrupt what you're typing. Available in all 14 languages.

Fixed

The new-tab button stays next to your tabs. With six or more tabs on a roomy window, the
+
button jumped to the far edge and scroll arrows appeared even though everything fit. The tab bar now measures the real available width, so arrows only show when tabs genuinely overflow.

The address bar opens calm. Double-clicking it showed the editor, the full path history, and a tip all at once. History now appears only while you're actually typing (as autocomplete) or via the chevron.

Tips are readable in dark mode. The hint bubble used a background that blended into dark windows; it now sits on the system's elevated material in both appearances.

Paste follows the clipboard you used last. If you copied something inside DockDuck and then copied a file in another app (Windows App, Finder), ⌘V kept pasting the older DockDuck copy. It now always pastes whatever you copied most recently, wherever you copied it.

Progress belongs to the right file. Bringing several files in from another app credited every byte to the first item in the list, so one row raced to "445 MB of 6.3 MB" while the actual large file sat at zero. Each file now shows its own progress.

Duplicating a folder whose name contains a dot. A folder named something like
Project.Archive
was duplicated as
Project copy.Archive
. Folders now take the copy suffix after their full name, the way Finder does, while files and packages keep it before the extension.

Large folders from Windows App no longer fail silently. When the source app is still preparing the folder, DockDuck now waits and retries instead of giving up with no feedback. If the app still refuses to hand it over, the row turns red with a clear explanation.
